The challenge

The existing washrooms presented several common issues found in older school washroom facilities:

• Incompatible materials: previous toilet boxing used moisture-absorbent materials that had swollen and deteriorated over time.

Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) cubicles and WC duct panels

The duct panels also conceal the cisterns, improving hygiene and preventing pupils from tampering with plumbing components.

Solid surface wash troughs with push taps

To replace the outdated handwashing setup, Interfix installed modern solid surface wash troughs, chosen for their:

The push-operated taps provide water control, helping to reduce waste and improve safety.

New vinyl flooring

A fresh, slip-resistant vinyl floor was fitted to ensure safety, cleanliness and a contemporary appearance throughout the washroom.

Coordination with Council-funded lighting upgrade

Southfield Primary School was simultaneously undertaking a council-funded lighting improvement project. Interfix worked seamlessly with the council’s appointed contractor to integrate the lighting installation into the washroom refurbishment timeline—ensuring a consistent and high-quality finish.
