Phase Two Washroom Refurbishment at Southfield Primary School
Continuing the transformation of school washroom facilities
Following the successful refurbishment of its washrooms in 2025, Southfield Primary School continued its investment in better pupil facilities with a second phase of works.
Building on the approach established during the first phase, Interfix delivered a washroom refurbishment focused on hygiene, durability and ease of maintenance. The aim was to provide practical, long-lasting facilities that could stand up to the demands of a busy primary school.
The challenge
School washrooms need to withstand daily use while remaining clean, safe and easy to maintain. Worn fixtures, moisture damage and surfaces that are difficult to clean can all create additional work for school site teams.
The second phase at Southfield Primary School continued the work to improve the standard of the school’s washroom facilities, using robust materials and practical design choices suited to the school environment.
The priorities remained clear:
- Improve hygiene and simplify daily cleaning
- Use durable materials designed for regular, heavy use
- Reduce the risk of moisture damage and ongoing maintenance issues
- Create clean, modern washrooms for pupils
- Complete the works with minimal disruption to school life
The solution
Interfix carried the same considered approach into the second phase, focusing on reliable materials, easy-clean finishes and a consistent standard of installation.
Hygienic wall cladding
Smooth, wipe-clean wall cladding provides a practical alternative to traditional tiled finishes. With no grout lines to maintain, the surfaces are easier to clean and help reduce areas where dirt and bacteria can collect.
Durable SGL cubicles and WC duct panels
Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) is well suited to school washrooms because it is waterproof, hard-wearing and resistant to the effects of everyday moisture.
SGL cubicles and WC duct panels provide a robust finish designed for long-term use. The duct panels also conceal cisterns and plumbing, helping to create a neater and more hygienic environment.
Solid surface wash troughs and push taps
Solid surface wash troughs offer a durable, easy-to-clean handwashing solution with minimal joints. Push-operated taps provide straightforward water control and help limit unnecessary water use.
Practical flooring
Slip-resistant vinyl flooring provides a hard-wearing finish suited to the demands of a busy school washroom. It also supports routine cleaning while giving the space a fresh, modern appearance.
The result
Phase two builds on the improvements made during the original refurbishment, continuing Southfield Primary School’s investment in washroom facilities that are easier to maintain and better suited to everyday school life.
By using durable materials and hygienic finishes, Interfix’s approach prioritises long-term performance as well as appearance.
The project continues the focus on:
- Cleaner, more hygienic washroom environments
- Hard-wearing materials designed for school use
- Easier day-to-day maintenance
- Practical facilities for pupils and school staff
- A consistent standard of finish across the project
