Greenwich Design District – Washroom Refurbishment

Greenwich Design District prides itself on being London’s only permanent, purpose-built workplace for the creative industries. They provide businesses and individuals with the space and stability to disrupt, innovate, and collaborate. Its comprised of 16 unique buildings, designed by eight pioneering architects, and are only a one minute walk away from North Greenwich station.

Their existing toilets had exposed concrete block walls and concrete floors, which looked in keeping with the rest of the quirky design district, however unfortunately made the washrooms very difficult to keep looking clean, especially given their public off-street location. The ceilings were also in a suspended grid style, which contributed to crime, with dangerous items being concealed in this space.

So Interfix set to and came up with solutions to tackle these problems. Tiling of all the walls and floors went ahead, along with a solid plasterboard ceiling. A lockable access hatch was also installed in the ceiling to allow for maintenance. New linear LED lighting brightened the room to further tackle crime. Stainless steel sanitaryware was installed, as well as sensor flushes and sensor taps.

Being the busy location that the o2 area is, the project was completed in a short window to avoid conflicting with events. A successful project and we hope the Design District proves the benefits of the upgrade!
