Washroom refurbishment specialists, Interfix, delivered a set of sanitary facilities for an esteemed conference venue in London’s west end. TUC Congress House houses many high-level union meetings throughout the year, emphasising the need for modern, hygienic, high-quality washrooms. Interfix was selected to help design a new set of ladies and men’s toilets, as well as install the upgraded fixtures and fittings, due to the outdated nature of the original existing facilities.

The washroom refurbishment consisted of swapping the ladies area for the gent’s area and vice versa; removing the shower rooms and providing additional smart, durable equipment such as Corian Washtroughs, WC and urinal duct panels and cubicles.

For both 36m2 washrooms, all products were specified, quantified and installed by Interfix. These included fitted wall panelling, ducts, urinals and vanity panels in Solid Grade laminate. Flush-fronted, full-height, rebated HPL cubicles were also installed, along with Corian Washtroughs – manufactured and supplied by Interfix – featuring rear-slot drainage. This specification will help maintain the long-term look and performance of the washrooms as Corian Washtroughs, which are deep enough to prevent splashing, are not subject to deterioration.

With its continual use as a conference venue, Interfix’s installation team faced a challenging, four-week timeframe to complete the washrooms’ refurbishment without interruption to the TUC’s meeting schedule.

This was achieved, with the client being supplied with a set of sanitary facilities that have helped create a clean, comfortable welcoming environment for visitors to this historic building.
